Laurentiu Garofeanu, author of Quarantime Bucharest: It is a project that will remind us of us in the pandemic

When everything seemed to close between four walls for fear of the unseen enemy, as the authorities often referred to the coronavirus, Laurentiu Garofeanu realized that neither the televisions, nor most of the photojournalists document the pandemic from the point of view of the withdrawn people in isolation. So he took the bike by its bright green horns, put on his mask and started filming with his phone.

For two months he visited the neighborhoods of Romania’s capital and rediscovered the pleasure of walking on streets where traffic had disappeared and the kindness of the city’s inhabitants. He also rediscovered long-forgotten games, which he played in his childhood. The pandemic rekindled the spark of kindness in people and taught children to play together again – these are the most vivid conclusions Laurentiu was left with.
